Adding video to your map is a great way to enhance the content experience for your audience. It enables you to create guided tours that people can view in-destination from their mobile phone.
You can embed a YouTube or Vimeo video into the overview of your map, or against specific places you plot. Some example ideas include:
- A video guided walking tour
- An outdoor art tour with a video from the artist against each location
- Include a video overview of that destination or place
How to embed a video into your map
1. Upload your video to either Youtube or Vimeo
2. Within the Alpaca editor, click into the relevant place you want to add the video to. Select the pencil to edit the written content.
3. Within the 'Description' field you will see a + icon, click this to open a modal window with a list of options. Scroll this list until you come to the Youtube or Vimeo option. Select the relevant option.
4. Paste in the share link that you can get from Youtube or Vimeo into the box that appears. Click enter. Save.
Note: The video will not appear in the back end of the editor, but when viewed on the front end it will be visible.
You can also follow the same steps above to add a video to the overview content for your map/itinerary.
