Wondering how to better organise your content or categorise your places? Segments are here to help! Whether you're creating a multi-day trip, categorising by theme or season, segments make your map user-friendly.
What Are Segments?
Segments allow you to:
- Break down multi-day trips: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and so on.
- Group by themes: Eat, Drink, Play.
- Organise by towns or sections: Easy, Difficult.
- Classify by seasons: Summer, Winter.
Setting Up Segments:
- Start Simple: Make sure you've added at least 1 place to your guide, and then the segments functionality will activate.
- Edit Segments: Click on the 'Edit Segments' button at the top of your 'Plot Locations' panel.
- Create: Select 'Create new segment'.
- Personalize:
- Name your segment. This will help you identify it later.
- Choose a colour. This colour becomes the marker/route on the map. If you're visual, different colours can represent different segments. Want consistency? Pick the same colour for each segment.
Assigning Places to Segments
- Select a Place: Click on the place you want to categorize.
- Assign: Hit the 'Assign segments' button.
- Choose Segment: Click to assign your place to the right segment. Remember, a place can belong to multiple segments. For instance, if you’re using 'Days' as segments, a place might be relevant to Day 1 and Day 2.
Tip: If you're ever unsure which segment to assign a place to, think about your end-users and what will make the most sense for them.
With these simple steps, your guide will be more organized, making it easier for users to navigate and find what they're looking for!
