You can choose whether your map will display numbered stops or icons. All maps default to numbering.
Why would you choose numbered stops?
Numbered stops are good for a trip/trail that is followed in sequential order, or for ranked lists (eg. Top 5 Beaches).
Why would you choose icons for stops?
Icons are a good choice for a list map where there is no ranking or order. You can select icons that match the category of that place to make it easy for someone to use and view your map. An example might be that you are creating a town guide, and you have places to eat/drink/see/stay. You can choose 4 icons that match your categories of eat/drink/see/stay, and assign those to the places for a highly visual map.
How to change your map from numbers to icons?
- Switch from Numbered to Unnumbered Locations: Navigate to the 'Plot locations' section in your content panel. Here, you'll find the 'Numbering: ON' option. Click on this option and toggle it to 'Unnumbered'. This disables the automatic numbering of locations on your map.
- Assign an Icon to Each Location: Now that you've chosen to use icons, you need to assign an icon to each location. Within your list of locations, find the pin icon next to a location and click on it. A new option, 'Manage Icons', will appear. Click on 'Manage Icons' to select the icon you want to assign to that location.
Note: To maintain clarity on your map, it's important that every location on your list is assigned an icon if you've selected the 'Unnumbered' option.
- Upload Custom Icons (Paid Subscribers Only): As a paid subscriber, you have the added ability to upload your own custom icons. This can add a personalised touch and allow for more specific visual representation on your map.
